The story of VEVBLEU
Introduction
VEVBLEU is a European based company focusing on bringing the art and beauty of Africa and the Indian Ocean; to the world. We work alongside female artists across Africa and Indian Ocean to showcase their talents, in turn, providing employment and skill development to their communities.
Philanthropy remains the core factor which drives us to discover new artists and develop our collection. We enjoy a modern approach to ancient art, patterns and designs to create something extraordinary.
Our origin story
Aptly named after a unique species of bird, the company and founder, Maguy Steib, share the fundamentals grounding that no matter where you fly, Africa will always be home.
With a world becoming faster and moving swifter into the future, slowing down and practicing selfcare must remain a ritual. VEVBLEU was created to bring beauty into your daily ritual of being still amongst an accelerated world.
The Founder
Our founder aims to introduce the beauty of Africa into our selfcare rituals; whilst giving us bliss and balance, as a breath of calmness in our busy lives. Through selfcare and daily practice, in any form, we hope our products will play a role in reaching true happiness and stillness.
VEVBLEU was inspired by the beauty of Africa, our founder grew up immersed in the rich tapestry that is African culture. With an eye for the grandeur, she strives to connect the ordinary with beauty, luxury and art. Read more about our founder below.
Rooted in functional beauty
We believe in the power of beauty in our everyday life. Our products are based around bringing art to life with functional objects of beauty. We aim to connect African contemporary art design through everyday products, being bold and embracing our love for colour in a world which is often black and white. Our yoga products are made using sustainable and eco-friendly materials, with the intention to protect the environment and causing no harm to you or your family.

VEVBLEU
The origin of our name
Our name VEVBLEU pays homage to the Veuve (also known as the Paradise Flycatcher) which is a critically endangered bird with beauty surpassed only by the island it inhabits and its inhabitants. Not only do we place importance on the use of environmentally friendly and ethically sourced materials but also on materials that will cause no harm to the you, whilst bringing luxury and elegance into your daily ritual. We adopted the name VEVBLEU because our mission is to grow our collection by bringing the power of beauty into your daily life and bring you, the people, the culture behind the opulence, that is VEVBLEU.
Meet our Founder
Descending from a melting pot, that is European and African culture. I was born in Seychelles and raised in South Africa from the age of 10. I grew up in a community that celebrates its multicultural background and paid homage to the beauty of Africa. It’s no surprise that art and the beauty of Africa has always brought me tremendous joy. To me, bold colours, patterns and art is a way to decompress from my busy life. I wanted to share this joy with the world.
Married in 2015, to my husband of German descent, on the island of La Digue, Seychelles. My outlook on life has always been creating beautiful spaces and making the ordinary into the extraordinary.
My many travels and cultural experiences have made me the backbone and creative force of the VEVBLEU. Currently residing in Germany, my heart has always remained committed to talented artists of Africa and the hardships that communities face daily. This has ignited my desire to empower artists and gives back to the communities that raised me.
In Africa, the saying Ubuntu meaning “I am, because you are”. remains paramount to its people and is evident in our culture. At, VEVBLEU, I strive to bring beauty, art and creativity to the world through UBUNTU.
